We are one week away from Shelter, Inc.'s largest fundraiser of the year, the
Home Is Where the Heart Is Gala. On November 20, we will turn back the clocks to 1975--the year Shelter began--to enjoy the sounds of the 70s, honor those who have supported us for 45 years, and most importantly, join together in our shared goal that all children grow up in safe and loving homes. General admission is free!

A Virtual Gala? How Does that Work?

For most of us, our Gala has always meant fancy clothes, a three-course dinner, and time spent on the dance floor; all enjoyed while raising needed funds for kids in our community. Shelter's Virtual Gala looks a little different but shares the same goal: to bring people together in a fun and meaningful way to help kids in need.

Our one-hour program will move at a quick pace and feature an inspiring story about a young girl's journey to overcome years of abuse. We will also honor Cornerstone Bank and celebrate 45 years of Shelter's work. NBC 5's Regina Waldroup will bring the energy as our Gala emcee, while our live auctioneer will entertain the bidders. A soundtrack from the 70s will take us back to the year Shelter was founded.

While we are disappointed that we can't be physically together, we can still be together--in our sweatpants (or sparkles), sitting comfortably on our couches, bidding on great prizes, and knowing we are helping to build safer, healthier, and brighter futures.

How Can I Watch?

Registration is required for the Gala, even if you are choosing the Free General Admission Ticket. Before the event, you will receive the Gala link by email or text message. You can view on the device of your choice: smart TV, desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The viewing experience is one-way, so anything goes in terms of what to wear, including your bell-bottoms and platform shoes.

What Time Does It Start?

The pre-show/get your drinks ready/countdown will start at 6:00 pm. If you pre-ordered your Cocktail Courier Kit, get mixing. Use the Gala event link to watch Mike Trow, the bar manager at RPM Restaurants, show you how to make the perfect “Chalet Shake Up.” If you received a Wine and Snack Gift Box with your VIP ticket purchase, please enjoy!

The main event begins at 6:30 pm and will last approximately one hour. Virtual Table participants will have the chance to “gather” in private Zoom rooms following the event.

Will There Be A Silent Auction? A Live Auction?

Yes, and yes! We have some amazing prizes, including a "Stranger Things" pinball machine, trips to Cabo San Lucas and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and unique virtual experiences, such as a visit from Santa and Frozen's Elsa. Silent auction opens on Monday. Watch your email for the link to browse and bid. You must be registered for the event to participate.
