the Commercial Exploitation of Children

How can we help children involved in Human Trafficking and CSE through a client-centered, trauma-informed approach?
How does poverty, racism, sexism and homophobia play a role in Human Trafficking and CSE?

This seminar is recommended for social service agencies and providers, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, educators, and concerned members of the community.

Carina H. Santa Maria, MSW, LCSW is licensed clinical social worker with a background in psychology and criminology. She received her master’s degree in social work from Dominican University where she is also a clinical instructor. Carina served as the Vice President of Education and Outreach at the Broward Human Trafficking Coalition, and as a residential counselor at Youth Villages in Memphis, TN. In addition, Carina has volunteered with Kristi House - Project GOLD and served as the Education Director for Traffick Free, a volunteer driver organization in the Chicago that combats human trafficking. Currently, Carina is the Executive Director of Shelter, Inc. and resides in Arlington Heights.
